This book, Conspiracy of Fools, tells the true story of the scandal that caused the collapse of Enron, an energy company that seemed like it was going to hit the big time. I liked this quote because it describes Ken Lay (the CEO of Enron) and his reaction when one of his most trusted buddies tried to weasel some money out of him for a severance agreement. Here's where he begins to suspect that his "buddy" has betrayed him... Although I haven't gotten too far in my book yet, I can tell that Ken Lay is super proud of Enron, a company he's raised like a kid, but here he suddenly he begins to suspect his supposedly loyal Enron workers are double-crossing him. I haven't found out what this double-crossing is yet, but this made me think, a lot, about betrayal and treachery. I consider myself lucky to never have really ever been betrayed in my life, but I can tell how much it would hurt if I ever was betrayed. I'd lose trust in the person, lament the years and time I've spent believing in them, and lose respect for myself because I was unable to realize I was being played... Dark thoughts here...Have you guys ever been betrayed? And if you have been, how did it make you feel?
